` i'll be waiting,
If he paid a bit more attention to his looks, he might notice the fact stubs of dragon-fly wings are beginning to emerge from his back, translucent and slightly reflective, but not yet obvious enough that he, or anyone else, can tell when he has a shirt on. All the same, he has been finding it a little harder to find a comfortable position in bed.
Russel has grown nearly to full height already and stands at 5’11; lean in figure, but with a light, cordy muscle that came from all his hiking.
PERSONAL STYLE .Easy, comfortable and casual- there’s hardly anything that will force Russell out of his worn jeans and faded t-shirts. One pair of sneakers he owns is two years old, falling apart from huge amounts of wear and tear, and caked with dried mud. The second pair is fairly new, for when he has to ‘dress up’. [/ul]
` lace up your shoes,
Hiking- When you have a six-year-old sibling, it's nice to get out of the house once in a while to enjoy some peace and quiet. Living close to cliffs and forests make hiking the obvious choice. In any case, Russell has always felt safer when he's not surrounded by walls, and the lack of competition is pleasant as well.
Ice-cream- Cold, sweet, and delicious. His favorite flavor is cookies and cream.
Science- It's the kind of thing you either understand or you don't. Russell is one of the people who grasps new scientific concepts easily, and for him, and when it's easy, it's good.
The zoo- Russell loves animals. Not so much common, domestic ones- dogs and cats- but exotic animals that you don't get to see everyday. Even though he doesn't like the crowds, he still loves the zoo.
Red- The color red is primary, bright and eye-catching, and happens to be Russell's favorite. He doesn't even wear red clothing (he prefers gray and navy) but it's his favorite none the less.
The idea of playing drums- Though not interested in taking the time to get lessons, Russell still loves music, and secretly nurtures a rock-star fantasy. He hates the idea of singing in front of a large number of people, and the guitarist has to stand, but the drummer gets to sit in the back through every concert. In his opinion, that's a pretty good deal.
Indie Rock- Off beat and interesting, Russell's favorite bands are Sonic Youth and Flaming Lips, though if their lyrics have some hidden meaning, he doesn't bother decoding it. The message doesn't matter- he just likes the music.
DISLIKES .
Snow- Russell can't stand cold weather (convenient, living in NY) and snow is the worst of it. The way he views it, whatever enjoyment you get out of the snow before it starts melting in your boots is just not worth digging up coats and hats and gloves for. When it snows, you can usually find Russell curled up on the couch.
History- He's got no mind for dates or names, so history is difficult. The more difficult Russell finds something, the less he likes it. As a result, Russell drags his worst grades out of history and geography.
Cats- Being allergic to cats kind of puts a damper on them. It's hard to like something that makes you cough uncontrollably.
Politics- If you're not old enough to vote, then why concern yourself? In his mind, politics are a big waste of energy anyway. There's too much debating involved, and people tend to argue. Russell makes a point to avoid conflicts.
Extended periods of silence- Not a very strong dislike, just an annoyance. Being an easily bored person, if nothing's going on, he at least wants something to listen to. He makes good use of his I-Pod in such situations, even if he risks looking a little rude.
STRENGTHS . Can skim through almost any subject and pass with little effort, thinks logically (if he has to) no matter what the situation, beginning to discover he can change the growth of plants, fast runner
WEAKNESSES . Little to no motivation, bad with commitment, acrophobic (afraid of heights), claustrophobic (afraid of confined spaces)
GOALS .Pass high school, get a job in a zoo or national park somewhere
FEARS .Heights, not being able to make choices (lack of freedom, such as being directed down one long hallway with no doors or intersections), confinement
SECRETS .If he ever had one, he would spill it so quickly it wouldn’t be a secret anymore.
FAIRY PAST .A very distant descendant of Monty the Earth Fairy. A female White-faced Capuchin monkey named Loki is his familiar.
OVERALL PERSONALITY .Easy-going to the point of laziness, it takes a lot to worry him, and it’s almost impossible to annoy him. Russell spends a good deal of his time with his ears connected to an I-Pod, glued to a couch, especially when its cold or the weather is bad. When the weather is good though, he’s almost always outside. He has a habit of wandering the Nightshade Cliffs and the woods that circle his hometown of Watersburg, and knows every twist of the road from his many walks.
Because of a problem committing himself, even as a friend, Russell doesn’t have a ton of friends, but he couldn’t care less. He wouldn’t mind having a friend, as long he was sure he could trust them, but he wasn’t going to put forth much effort. Not one to start a conversation, he still doesn’t mind talking. All in all, Russell doesn’t mind school, enjoys himself during gym and in science, but it’s nothing big. He has no worries, and slides through with almost straight B’s, no effort, no questions asked. However, unintelligent isn't a word to describe him- he simply doesn't care about grades, as long as he's passing.
Russell tends to doubt things he can’t see or feel- religion, magic, life on other planets. Not being a judgmental person, he finds no issue with believers, and doesn’t really even think about it. To avoid conflict, he usually just doesn’t speak when these topics are brought up, but rather listens intently, still interested. [/ul]
` don't tell a soul goodbye,
CURRENT LOCATION .As stated above (lived there all his life)
FATHER . Allan Jon Walker
MOTHER . Tiffany Young Walker
SIBLINGS .James (Jim, Jimmy) Adam Walker (Six-year-old baseball fanatic)
PETS .Crisco (Red Eclectus Parrot with a blue 'bib'.)
OTHER FAMILY .Two grandmothers, a grandfather, one aunt, two uncles (one by marriage) two female cousins, none very prominent in his life.
HISTORY .As a young child, Russell was much more energetic, a live-wire that rushed around confronting everyone on everything cheerily, delighting in the attention and the thrill from the trouble he got himself into. His father who worked as a lawyer in a well-to-do law-firm, was busy but doting and tolerant, encouraging any seed of diligence and aptitude that appeared, rough-housing and in general spending as much time with him as possible- not a lot. His mother was a stay-at-home mom who spent most of her time cleaning and grocery shopping, and though loving, didn’t really spend extraneous time with her son.
A mild wonder and respect toward the natural world as a toddler grew as he aged, and he felt increasingly more at home outdoors. His love of attention also dulled in intensity as he matured. At that time he enjoyed school and made and broke up friendships with abandon. A major turning point in his life occurred at age eight with the birth of his little brother.
At first, Russell paid no mind to the new child, but as time wore on, he realized his father now divided time between the rapidly growing baby and himself. The role-model and motivator of his life gradually disappeared, and as a result, Russell little by little lost the desire to find conflict and the energy he had learned from his father- Russell was what you would call a very high maintenance child.
Living a full but entirely ordinary life, Russell never heard a hint of the magic passed to him through his father’s family- his father was one for fact over fantasy, and even if he had heard rumors or ancient stories about it, probably wouldn’t have told Russell. Thus, Russell walked clueless into the first vague beginnings of magical ability that started creeping into his life at thirteen.

RP SAMPLE .A pair of glazed eyes watched as the Algebra teacher started writing a rational equation on the overhead. Russell’s hand scratched across his sheet of ‘notes’, a cartoon monkey slowly emerging from the lines- before Russell became bored, and crumpled up the piece of paper, tossing it neatly into the trash can a few feet away. The teacher threw a quick glance at him, before continuing her work. Quickly uninterested once again, Russell got up and sauntered across the room to the electric sharpener, and began sharpening his pencil. After about seven seconds he paused, took the pencil out, examined it, then placed it back in for another few seconds, the half-dead machine whirring and screeching in complaint. Appraising the sharpness of the tip, he purposefully made painfully contemplative face, tapping his finger on the point. The teacher paused in her lesson to observe him in slight exasperation until he slid back into his seat. Feeling her sharp gaze on him, he glanced back up, nodding approvingly with an oblivious, half-smile on his face. “I had to sharpen my pencil.” He explained, his voice lethargic and amused. A few people snickered at the ‘I just swallowed a lemon’ look on the algebra teachers face, before Russell felt he had applied enough tension for one day and bent back to his messy scrawl of notes. At least now he wasn’t falling asleep anymore… [/ul]
